Akvaterm was founded in 1993 in Kokkola, Central Ostrobothnia. So far, the company’s main products have included hot water accumulator tanks and heat exchanger coils of various sizes. The company has also manufactured cooling water and special tanks and acted as a distributor of various accessories.

Akvaterm is known as a company that can quickly and cost-effectively deliver customised tanks that are designed to meet the customer’s needs. The operations and product range have been modified to be more versatile and customer-oriented. The development of heating systems has also created needs for the development of accumulators. Heat sources are used in an increasingly versatile manner, and it is more and more common that an accumulator is an integral part of such evolving systems.  The so-called hybrid accumulators, which are suitable for the combination of different heat sources, provide the basis for the flexible management of energy use.

Akvaterm’s vision is to be a ‘versatile and growing tank provider’, and the company’s environmental goal is to encourage its customers and other relevant parties to utilise energy-efficient heat accumulation solutions. Furthermore, the company also makes an effort to implement energy-efficient and environmentally friendly measures in its own operations. The quality and environmental management systems are implemented throughout the entire company.

As part of this vision, Akvaterm Oy merged into Kaukora Oy in 2017. In the same year, the production was transferred from Kokkola to Turku and Raisio, where it continues as part of Kaukora Oy’s operations. Major investments and upgrades were also made to the production lines in order to be able to further improve the quality of the products. This way we can ensure that, in the future, the quality of our products is even better.

Kaukora Oy has been manufacturing the Jäspi heaters since 1976 and the Jämä heaters since 1949. Due to our long operational history, we are very familiar with the northern conditions and the related heating requirements and the developments in heating technology. We supply over 50,000 heaters every year, so we can proudly say that we provide the heat for Finnish homes. We are familiar with the Finnish heating market and its special features.

We continuously develop our product range. The feedback we receive from the users and representatives directly affects the characteristics of our products. For that reason, they are particularly well suited for extremely demanding conditions in which the heating solution must also be able to adapt to significant seasonal weather fluctuations. We also export our Finnish expertise. Our main export destinations include Sweden, Norway, Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The Jäspi and Akvaterm products are manufactured at Kaukora Oy’s factories in Raisio and Turku, and they have been awarded with the Key Flag Symbol that indicates Finnish origin.

In 2018, the company’s turnover was approximately EUR 30 million, of which exports accounted for one third.
